The Oddfellows society has been working hard over the last six years raising £180,000 for the Genesis Appeal.

The Oddfellows are a friendly society with 120,000 members across the UK and 150 Branches. They provide social events, care and welfare for their members as well as raising money for local and national charities.

The Society was very excited to become part of the Genesis Appeal and raise money for such a worthy cause. Members took part in hundreds of fundraising activities over the six years to ensure that the target was reached.

Over the years members have staged various events including coffee mornings, pink quizzes, raffles and a number of Branches enjoyed line dancing nights! Active employees of the Oddfellows took to the city centre streets in 2005, to take part in the Manchester 10k and a member from Lincoln courageously had her head shaved at the Annual Conference in 2007 for the great cause!

The money raised has gone towards the funding of a lecture theatre named after the Oddfellows.

Alan Cole, Chairman of the Society says,
“We are very proud to have supported the Genesis Appeal over the past six years; our members took up the challenge of raising £180,000 with much gusto. We hope that our contribution will go towards the target of making breast cancer a thing of the past.”

Although the Oddfellows have achieved their fantastic aim of raising £180,000 they plan on continuing to support the Appeal in the future and building on this partnership.
