Preventing Breast Cancer - help us plan our future national screening programme
The Genesis Appeal invites all women to attend their breast cancer Forum at the Nightingale Centre & Genesis Prevention Centre.
This is a chance to give your views on breast screening!
The Forum will discuss a pioneering new scheme to introduce a breast screening programme directly related to a woman’s chance of developing breast cancer
Any age is welcome, but we are particularly interested in women aged 47 or above (breast screening age) and those women about to undergo their first screening (47-50).
Currently once a woman reaches 47 years or over you will be invited for a mammogram by the National Breast Screening Programme every three years. In the future, doctors may be able to give you more ‘personalised’ screening, using your lifestyle and family history.
Would you be interested in attending a specially convened Forum to discuss a pioneering new scheme, which would introduce a breast screening programme directly related to a woman’s chance of developing breast cancer?
This is your chance to tell us your views!
- Venue: The Nightingale Centre & Genesis Prevention Centre
- Date: Friday 5th December
- Start: 9.30 am
- Finish: 1.30pm
Those attending will also be invited to lunch and a guided tour of the £14million state-of-the-art centre, Europe's first purpose built breast cancer prevention centre at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester.
Come and hear about potential changes to breast cancer screening. What do you think about the way screening could change?
The Forum will launch a prestigious Department of Health £1.59 million research programme.
